Europe sure seems like it’s a dead man walking. Contrast with Orange Man Bad’s call for the elimination of censorship. 2025 is certainly a year of vivid contrasts, and we’re only 2 months in.

What do you mean? Everybody knows Orange Man Bad's call for elimination of censorship is actually suppression of free speech! If everyone can say what they want, we won't be able to say what we want!

The Left said it, I believe it, that settles it. [/sarcasm]

(Seriously, this is an argument I've seen bandied about. Orwell's Ministry of Truth couldn't brainwash these people any more than they've done to themselves.)

Just about. They’re too far gone into the abyss. I’ll wait until they stop making Germanic and/or Latin gurgling noises to be sure.

Time for the US to dust off and update that Cold War idea... "Starlink Free Europe."

Well, if you work at it, it's possible to interpret what she said in a non-evil way.

That would be "knowledge defeats lies". If the people have knowledge, they will be better able to detect lies and know to ignore them.

Is that what she meant? Considering the source, I doubt it, but in fairness it's possible.

The key difficulty of course is building up that knowledge, given that the left everywhere is doing its best to subvert reality and replace it by its own favorite ideology and pack of lies. "Global warming" is a case in point.

"Can a government be an effective gatekeeper?"

Nothing to do with the internet. Everything to do with the government.

Take a look around your workplace/office. Look at your cow-orkers. Which one of them would you trust, without reservation, to determine what is a fact and what is not allowed to be spoken? None of them?

I am not surprised.

But, who do you think it staffing the government? Yeah, people just like your cow-orkers. Does their employment in the public sector somehow make them angels incapable of error? Without bias?
