That lady is Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen, a German politician, serving as the 13th president of the European Commission since 2019 and member of Angela Merkel’s cabinet.

I guess their research has shown that the COVID vaccines were popular and people in Europe still believe in them, so why don’t we accuse the information we don’t like as a plague and that should be prevented from being spread via Government “vaccination” AKA Prior Restraint.

Prior restraint generally restricts speech before it happens, but it goes further than that. It also is when the government requires any review or approval process before the speech or expression occurs.

Simply put: A prior restraint is anytime the government acts as a gatekeeper to free expression.

The keyword for me here is gatekeeper. Can a government be an effective gatekeeper in the age of the Internet? They can try very hard and be partially successful as long as the final consumers of the information are afraid of looking for non-approved news. The European mind will mostly default on obeying or at least acquiescing government while our first response usually goes out in the way of the letters F and U bracketed between raised middle fingers when somebody tries to tell us they hold the only truth.

I do believe that European govs in general will eventually try to shut down the access to the internet, make it more like State-Facebook- type than free roaming through the WWW. It will be a failure short of starting to shoot down satellites providing internet service.
