If the business owners who hire illegals, were prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, there would be few jobs for the illegals and the illegals would tend to leave. Perhaps there is something wrong with my logic, but I haven't found it yet.
To whit, when Disney finds that they've admitted too many guests into their parks, they don't forcefully kick people out. Instead, they start shutting down rides and attractions "for repair" or "for maintenance", and with nothing else to do, people start to leave on their own. Once they're at or below capacity, the rides and attractions start up again.
So, in the same vein, the feds could crack down (hard!) on people who illegally hire illegals and turn off federal entitlement benefits -- rent assistance (TANF), food stamps (SNAP), welfare, Medicaid, etc. -- for "undocumented" immigrants (no documentation, no benefits, no exceptions; so simple even a government worker can remember it!). With no free housing and no way to easily get money, the appeal of being here will fade quickly and many of them will either get papered and become legal, or leave on their own. Either works for me.
(People who show up seeking asylum -- assuming they do it right, arriving at a Port of Entry and claiming asylum before entering the country -- get papers and documents to that effect. Thus, they are not "undocumented" and can receive some benefits and apply for employment like anyone else. Like I said, it's very simple.)
Expect more of these "tug at your heart" stories as the media wants to turn us against the Trump Administration.
I'm sure the restaurant owners donated some of the profits made by using "illegals" for labor to the Progressive Democrats.
Oh, absolutely.
The problem they have with people like me, though, is I hear stories like this and think "Good!"
We could have a whole thread about this subject.

The "Disney Solution" to immigration.

A roofing company in ourn area got raided. They 'lost' 34 'employees' in one fell swoop.
Good thing I had already hired a company that DIDN'T hire illegals...
