N.R.A- Negotiate our Rights Away.

republicans still have no clue what America wants and probably never will. all they do is bombard you with email and text begging for money

msm sows lie after lie and creates confusion.

We the People as usual pay the price.

intensely frustrating that the clear and unambiguous language of the Constitution in general and 2A in particular are so regularly tortured into whatever meaning is most politically expedient on any given day.

two and a half centuries of retarded and corrupt "representatives" have rendered the intent of the framers null.

As I mentioned before, for me it's not just - or even mostly - the NFA aspects of the B3 gutting that trouble me. Not that I don't care, but on the national stage there are bigger issues.

And once again, the Republicans let a Democrat derail what the country needs. There will likely be no consequences, personally or professionally, individually or as a party, for either the Dems pulling their usual crap, or for the Repubs for allowing it.

Apparently there are ways this could have been headed off or otherwise addressed ... But the Repub senate "leadership" in fact preemptively surrendered to whatever the Parliamentarian decided to do. It's infuriating.

Republicans act like they don't want to be impolite to the Democrats while they are being sodomized by them.

The parliamentarian can make 'suggestions'. Neither party is obligated to follow those suggestions.

"But the Repub senate "leadership" in fact preemptively surrendered to whatever the Parliamentarian decided to do."

Except that they overruled the parliamentarian to kill California's EV mandates. Apparently THAT was important enough to the country to fight for, but removing suppressors from NFA regulation? Nope, parliamentarian's word is law, nothing we can do about it.

Legislation like the HPA won't come up again for years. We got thrown the crumbs, so we're supposed to be grateful; how DARE we ask for more! So now we're going to have to spend the next decade in court, challenging whether regulations passed under Congress' power to tax are still valid when Congress removes the tax.

Thune said way back on June 3rd that he wouldn't overrule the Parliamentarian. (https://www.eenews.net/articles/thune-vows-not-to-overrule-parliamentarian-on-megabill/) This is also not the first time he's said that sort of thing. That's basically announcing open season on reform and cuts.

The fact they are willing to do only one overrule, on something that arguably is much less budget-related than other things that did get wiped, doesn't help my state of mind.

Before the first Trump administration I noticed that although the (R) party rattled on and on about abolishing Obama Care(?). After T-1 was installed it quickly became obvious they had nothing with which to replace it. We had given them the House, the Senate and the White House. RepliCons acted as if they were the minority party and could do nothing to counter the donks.

In addition, they put the screws to Trump, and his administration, whenever an opportunity presented. A truly empty bunch'a suits. Chaney , Romney and RINO republicans are traitors to their own cause.

The thing that strikes me, is that Obamacare didn't *need* anything to replace it. Just ... Remove the mandates, kill the BS requirements, and let the market get back to what it does best.

As it is, a government "patch" usually doesn't make things more fair or better or whatever; it changes the tradeoffs and incentives so it moves the "fairness" around and generally increases costs due to compliance requirements, if nothing else.

What Boris said: O-care didn't need a replacement. It just needed its mandates and requirements removed, and the market would take care of the rest. They could even leave the "public option" in place for people who wanted it.

But the rest of it, you have right: IIRC, while Obama was in office Republicans introduced 40-something bills to repeal the ACA, in whole or in part. Every single one died in committee or on the floor, and Obama wouldn't have signed one even if it got to his desk.

So We the People gave the GOP the trifecta -- House, Senate, and Oval Office -- largely on promises to repeal the ACA, with Trump promising to sign a repeal bill if they sent him one. And then the number of ACA repeal bills introduced in Congress dropped to *zero*. None.

The only explanation is that despite their promises, and despite what their constituents want and elected them for, Republican pols don't want the ACA repealed any more than Democrat pols do. All the talk about how bad it is for the country and economy was just so much hot air.

Let's face it - we have a surfeit of politicians, and a dearth of statesmen.

Actually solving problems results in less power, budget and influence; so it's something politicians don't really want to do no matter what they say. They are quite willing to put their own personal good above that of their country (or state, city, etc.).

Apologies - a bit more cynical than usual today.

Too late to entice me back for the next election. Actions (lack of) speak louder than words. Promises will no longer buy votes, y'all gonna have to sweat and shed blood (politically) to EARN your re-elections.

It's not just Congress. TN is a prime example of super majority Republicans swearing they are strong 2A supporters when their record shows not one sponsorship or vote to clean up the Unconstitutional mess that is the current state of TN firearms/weapons laws. Even the new laws they pass are booby trapped. For example "TN has Constitutional Carry" - horse pucky. Fer instance, if you're from out of state or resident without the TN CHL the "Constitutional Carry" does NOT allow you to carry in our State Parks. There are more exceptions. Pretty much the whole body of TN firearms/weapons laws are like this and these self proclaimed strong 2A supporters have had over a decade of Republican super majority to fix it. Nada. Zip. It's enough to make you vote for the other party just to punish the RINOs and get them out of office.

As Robert A. Heinlein put it, sometimes you can only solve a problem by making it worse. Otherwise people aren't hurting enough to actually do something about it. And yeah, that solution evokes Churchill on streets and blood.

I guess we know how much our Senators actually care for the Constitution. The second amendment doesn't have any wiggle room, yet they've passed laws that limit our rights, when told we want the limitations on our rights changed, they do half the job. There's still that damned form so the government know what you own. Not their business and illegal.

You're correct, they better figure out what we gun owners want and get it done before the election.
