With that crime record it must have taken guts to shop there. Surprised it wasn't closed in month 2 of the change to rental versus lease. Apartheid? Yep, blame it on the whites again. Oh, Lyndon Johnson, what your Great Society has wrought.
There is a knock-on effect - the crime will get worse at other stores.
Rocket choir surgeons need to eat too, so the same people who caused this shutdown will now need to get food (notice I didn't say "buy") elsewhere. There is no reason to believe they will leave their behavior behind.
A Service Merchandise model for a grocery store would be a PITA (although the proliferation of shop-for-you and order-ahead services says we're maybe already on that glideslope), especially for small last-minute things. But it would at least cut down on theft.
what would cut down on theft is a change to laws that destroy honest peoples ability to defend themselves… 3-4 guys(or gals) armed with shotguns hangin around ready to blister criminals would make it “safe” to shop…harris voters choke Freedom them blame corporations when crime ridden areas become too hot. And the come up with new non- words to appear smart and caring..typical liberal policy choking We the People.
Why? Because people are frequently stupid. And it doesn’t sound like the local demographic started out with an abundance of sense, common or otherwise.
"Not everyone in this community participated in the wrongdoing," Key said.
Likely correct. However, not enough people in the community took action to stop it. If they had, it would not have gotten as bad as it did.
And, no, I do not expect people to intervene in fights, robberies, etc... at their own risk, but do not tell me they have "no idea" who was doing it. They could easily have policed themselves to an extent that would make it a better neighborhood.
So, yes, I am blaming the neighborhood. A blind eye to bad behavior only encourages more. Years ago they could have taken control, but did not. I know... I know. Welfare people move a lot, etc... No excuse.

But hey, they're still voting Democ... Oh, wait.

“People will not learn from this event.”

The only known cure for stupidity and evil is hemp, applied vigorously.

And, stop raising hoodlums.
If they had announced the closure it would have been emptied and burned in protest.
