The rare occasion I go to a restaurant with the Missus, I will tip 20% for a good meal and service. Good food, a warm smile and not hovering over the table will secure you that percentage, anything less and you are looking at a 10% and for real shitty service and food, I will have no qualms on demanding the bill mid-meal, toss exact money on the table and get the eff out never to return.
The people who come up with the above math are lazy sacks who want to make money by working the least possible and not caring for the customer. But what happens when you have pissed off those with wallets and the attendance to your workplace drops? To quote the great philosopher Jane Cobb “I got a share in this job. If I am a restaurant owner and anyone in my waitstaff pull a shit like this, they will summarily put in the dumpster for trying to bankrupt me.
Well, I certainly don't need to eat *there*. That method also levies the tip on the sales tax, not just the bill for food and drink.
I had a refreshing change over Christmas. Mrs B and I went to a small place. Tip options programmed into das card machine were 10%, 5% and 2%. They were fast, friendly, and the food was very good.
i don’t know about the rest of the world but here standard tipping is 15% … the “raise the minimum wage “ crowd has fubared tipping here .
