(This is a continuation of The Naivete of Unchecked Immigration.)
We are sitting in a Cultural ticking time bomb. We are bringing/allowing people that have no reference other than Hollywood about what America is and stands for and at the same time, we believe that since they use the same words, they have the same concepts as us and that is a deadly mistake.
We define our system and way of leaving in different ways, but we can summarize it from two extracts: one from the Declaration of Independance and the Gettysburg Address.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…
And
and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
The American experiment is unique and successful because it is based in a control of power by the People. We elect rather than select and expect those elected to do it for the benefit of all. Yes, it may not work perfectly and in some cases, it is really a carnival of idiocy, but it seems to be the less of evils in this world. We constantly struggle to maintain the rights of the individual and to check the powers-that-be and we will continue to do so because it is not a static endeavor. Stagnation does not breed freedom. We misnomer our system as a Democracy because there are elections held and people get one vote, but that is not a free pass to infringe on our inalienable rights by force of majority results.
But step outside the U.S. and the cultural concept of nations and government is different from what we know. I know little about Africa and its politics, but from what I have been told and read, what matters is not the country but the Tribe. People’s allegiance is to the Tribe and its benefit and if there is a misunderstanding with another tribe, your default will always be your own people even if both tribes live in the same “country.” There are tribal leaders and they are “democratically” voted to power and, of course, the biggest tribe will win the elections of the “country” unless they get thinned out by a competing tribe. But at the end of the day, the tribe is the one concept they go to and stick with.
Then we have Latin America (I may know a bit more about this one) and it is another concept that is alien to the U.S. culture: El Caudillo (The Strongman). If your brain popped the image of the mustachioed Latino wearing an army uniform bedazzled with medals and overacting like a clown, don’t fret because that is what you have been fed for decades. Yes, old history has the Strongman coming from the military because they were the ones with access to the weaponry and the men to use them. But there has been more than one case where they have risen for the civilian side and got money, guns and followers enough to topple the Strongman of the day. And if you brain also defaulted on the Strongman being Right-Wing-Nazi type, thank Hollywood again for that stereotype. Stalin was the definition of a Strongman as well as Fidel Castro and Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega; but starting in the 1960, we see a slight shift in using the democratic process to get access to a country’s centers of power and having the most resonant success with one Hugo Chavez of Venezuela who started as the Caudillo of old with a coup attempt, but became Beloved Leader by “democratic process”. The Strongman will use the Fascist cape or the Socialist cloak as it fits it to achieve power and remain there. And to the people, it is the same if they achieve power via the rifle or the “democratic process” as they will accept and submit to the new leader or suffer the consequences. The people in nations under a Strongman dictatorship will either become part of the government or be regular subjects who know better than defy power, so they nod and approve and even help them to have a life, decent or otherwise.
And I am sure you can find similar cultural difference on each group invading the U.S. right now, but the one thing they all have in common is that they do not understand the true meaning of the American way of life and there is no effort to do so by any Government agency. So, what this new wave of mass illegal immigrants will do is to revert to what they know, the familiar devil they grew up with and do so in an isolated community formed by themselves.
And before you complain that we had immigrants that have been integrated to our way of life, I will grant you that is true. But the difference is that it was a controlled and small number of screened newcomers (I had to eventually use the word) who were accepted by an already established and integrated fellowship of co-nationals who in turn, taught and guided them in the intricacies of their new home. A relatively small number of Haitians would come in, settle in Miami’s Little Haiti without much clash or shock to them or to the county. Same applied to Cubans since the 60s till the Mariel boatlift gave us a warning that went unheeding to this day. Pretty much every nationality had a self-created center where immigrants gravitated, learned and then moved on or chose to remain in the area.
But what we have now is mass and somewhat forced insertion of immigrants without any support cultural adaptation support in locations that are nowhere helpuful to their integration. We are not talking a few thousands a year but now over 10 million of mostly unchecked and then unsupervised aliens placed without any transition process or even warning to the locals who for the most part are not prepared to deal with the incoming cultural clash. It is like done on purpose to create a friction that would encapsulate even more the immigrants and strong leaders will emerge to guide (rule) them or they will become a tribe without any regard for anybody else outside. And again, they will revert to what they know and have lived before which is a life where cruel violence is common and easy to apply.
It is as if somebody higher up is actually looking to either start a conflict or have the new “culture” take over like it was an invading species, pythons in the Everglades or the blackhead carp in the Mississippi. It is the Minefield of Balkanization and a misstep is going to set up a deadly daisy chain of events. What I fear is that they firmly believe that since they controlled how it got started, they will be able to control the final outcome.
And they are painfully and deadly wrong.

Nice columns. It takes the perspective of someone who grew up somewhere else and adopted America to recognize what makes this country unique and special. Or at least used to make it that way.
