Well, at least when it comes to .22LR velocities. My Rugers 10/22 are very accurate with the hyper velocity Winchester, in fact they are a couple of notches above Aguila, CCI, Norma and other Winchester stuff I have on the shelves.
And on the other side, I will eventually get me a bolt action rifle for the quiet stuff, if anything to plink peacefully without making the neighbors all nervy or to eliminate nasty critters that need to see the other side.
Some time ago I made the mistake of buying a box of high velocity 22 LR. Not a bad idea except that I was using it to feed my NAA Mini Revolver.
Ouch. By comparison, the recoil on my 357 magnum snubby is gentle. So I learned a practical lesson. As the saying goes "good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment". Oh yes, there's the pilot's or skydiver's addendum: "...provided you survive the bad judgment".
I haven't shot a 22 (I think it was LR) since summer camp in 1958-ish. :-)
