Hebrew to Greek to Latin to Olde English to French to English to today's English. Something always gets lost in the translation. The early Hebrew word for young woman could also mean virgin. It's not too surprising how the monks translated Mary, the mother of Jesus, into a virgin with the accompanying mysticism to spice up the tale. And as pointed out, the 'murder' vs 'kill' in the Ten Commandments.

How many translations are there of the Bible, Koran, Torah? How many millions have been slaughtered because of a mistranslation turned to fanatical purposes?

"How many millions have been slaughtered because of a mistranslation turned to fanatical purposes?"

You could ask the same question about people being persecuted because of mis-interpretations in law and SCOTUS rulings.

The context and subject matter change, but fanatics and zealots are the same everywhere.
