“Today’s verdict in the Jordan Neely case does not change what we have known to be true in our hearts since the very beginning: Jordan Neely’s life was brutally taken away because of unnecessary vigilantism,” Sharpton said.
Actually, much as I loathe his racist rhetoric, at some level I have to admire him. He's kept the same grift going for longer than I've been alive. Guess there's a market for it.
"Pastor", "Minister", "Priest", "Rabbi", etc., are official, ordained titles. Some of them are shockingly easy to earn, but they are nevertheless official.
"Reverend" is NOT an official title; anyone can call themselves one.
So no, a "Reverend" is not automatically entitled to your reverence or respect. You are free -- and encouraged -- to judge the man (or woman) based on their words and deeds and not the title.
- "Unfortunately for Mr. Penny, the family who all but ignored Jordan Neely and did not give to shots about his issues, are now coming forward to get some cash out of his corpse by the way of a Civil Suit. It is the shitty relatives that come out after death to act like vultures and line their pockets. This also needs a harsh remedy."
On one hand, the Not Guilty verdict will help mitigate a civil suit.
On the other hand, it's just a continuation of "The Process is the Punishment", and there's no shortage of sleazy race-baiting attorneys (*cough Benjamin Crump cough*) willing to take this case pro bono just for the publicity, while Mr. Penny will STILL have to pay for a legal defense.
Personally, no small part of me wants to say that plaintiffs and attorneys who bring these cases for political reasons and profit should face sanctions when they lose, and greater than just having to pay the defendant's legal costs. Lawyers who bring frivolous cases, that they know or should know are frivolous, should face sanctions up to and including disbarment.
And any judge who allows a civil suit to proceed beyond defense counsel saying, "Your Honor, my client has already been found Not Guilty in these tragic events, and this action is just an attempt to exact a punishment against him that this very court ruled he does not deserve," also should be removed.
A decent (read: not sleazy or race-baiting) attorney would inform the family that they are highly unlikely to succeed and advise them against filing the suit ... and get that acknowledgement in writing in case the family insists on filing anyway.
“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.” ― Booker T. Washington
it just shows how stupid liberals are. If the CRIMINAL had not assaulted a citizen he would be alive
"but he hit me back first!!"
Good old Al.

Funny how little reverence I find in and for some "Reverends."

Just my opinion.

Next up is the "riot & loot" for any reason. I guess that comes tonight.
