A friend in Facebook was/is a bit upset at the volume of laughter and gloating he is seeing and made the comment about having the Big Tent Policy. I know he means it in the best of spirits, but I cannot agree with it. This was my response:
1) Gloating is fine. I see no problem with making fun of people absolutely losing their minds, doing and saying the dumbest things possible. Lord knows they have been doing the same for the last 4 years.
2) Pardon my Sanskrit but fuck the Big Tent. That is just another version of "We need common sense gun laws" or "We want to bring this law in spirit of bipartisanship"" or the cake analogy (I just want a little piece, how bad that could be? Be nice and share!): It is just a way for the Disloyal Opposition to gain inroads again and reach the point where they were just now: Control.
3) And if I have a tent, the last people I want to invite inside are those deranged assholes that right now are doing videos in Instagram, crying and asking for my head because I did not vote the way they did.
When they say they want you dead, take them at their word. When they call you rapist, abuser of women, Killer of Jews and a landslide of other truly disgusting names, they have lost any right to be paid any consideration or enter my "tent."
Actions and behaviors MUST have consequences. I will accept any civil disagreement and actually welcome it but that is not what has been happening.
I will not go out to harm these idiots, but I will not lift a finger to help them either. If you respect them and trying to help them, they will not repay your kindness, they will be like crows and there is an old Spanish saying about it:
"Cria cuervos y te sacaran los ojos." (Raise crows, and they'll gouge out your eyes.)
The habit of this carnivorous bird of eating carcasses starting with the eyes serves to symbolize ingratitude, to the ungrateful who pay with evil for the good that has been done to them.
And that is pretty much what I think about it, and I know that future actions from those same individuals will lead me to cement my position. Feel free to disagree in the comments, just don’t make a video crying about me being too mean to you.
For me, it's also about the behavior when they were in power. Remember the Obama elections, where you couldn't disagree with a policy (or heaven forbid point out the man's lack of substance on his resume) without being labeled an evil racist hater? And scolded about how we should accept the results of an election with good grace etc?
Well, the shoe is on the other foot now, as the saying goes. Perhaps when the Left starts exhibiting a degree of civility and good grace I would consider it. But not while they're acting like poorly raised, spoiled brats.
There have been several times in my life where the wussy R's won office and then decided to be gracious, bipartisan, not vindictive, etc. and so forth. Gave victory speeches that sounded like concession speeches. Literally took a mandate and flushed it down the toilet so they could go back to business as usual.
And then the D's win and it's scorched earth. Every time.
Yeah. Absolutely. Shut the tent door and start prepping the salt and fire, cause after scorched earth we need to salt the ground so nothing ever grows back. Fuck them all.
