A Florida woman is facing multiple charges stemming from her alleged attack on a 72-year-old man who was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat earlier this week.
Laura Garrett, 33, was arrested by the Largo Police Department on Tuesday for battery on a person older than 65, battery on a police officer and obstructing or resisting an officer without violence, according to Pinellas County Jail records.
Garrett admitted she approached the man – who has not been publicly identified – at Northeast Park and Paw Place to ask him about President Donald Trump and why he supports him, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by FOX 13 Tampa Bay.
The two got into an argument at some point during the confrontation before Garrett poured a can she was holding on the victim's head and hit him on the back of his head and shoulder area with it, the arrest report said, though Garrett denied that she hit him with the can.

Florida is very sensitive to crimes on the elderly. What could have been a simple misdemeanor assault charge, became a felony because of the age of the victim and unless something gigantic happens, she will eat the charge in its fullness.
(1) A person who is convicted of an aggravated assault or aggravated battery upon a person 65 years of age or older shall be sentenced to a minimum term of imprisonment of 3 years and fined not more than $10,000 and shall also be ordered by the sentencing judge to make restitution to the victim of such offense

Do notice most of the TDS1 sufferers do not attack younger males who can respond to attack with equal or more force, at least not one-on-one. And as for “safety in numbers”, I am waiting for that case in which a band of TDSers face somebody who proves that theory wrong with bloody consequences. It is coming and it is not going to be pretty if they do it in a State that supports self-defense and understands disparity of force.
Trump Derangement Syndrome
That is one of the major differences between conservatives and leftists. (No, I will not call them liberals, there is nothing liberal about them at all.)
A conservative will hold their opinions and beliefs, and not try to force them on others. If a conservative sees someone advocating for something they disagree with, worst thing that will ensue is the conservative will ignore it. It is extremely rare (from my limited experience) to see a conservative instigate a confrontation with a leftist.
On the other hand, wear a MAGA hat, and you are suddenly the leftists hunting season is open. Why? Because children are convinced they are right, and they have a god given duty to ensure every other human on the planet agree with them. That means, if they see you displaying any political stance they disagree with, they are going to confront you, and demand you change your stance.
Well, this is unusual. Charges included battery. Usually, it's just assault. Yes, there is a big difference; primarily, battery is physically hitting someone. Assault is (usually) verbal threats. There are differences in the state laws, with some using the terms interchangeably.
