Only 4 percent of surveyed Americans said they are backing Russia in the war in Ukraine, but 44 percent said they also don’t back Ukraine in a CBS News/YouGov poll.
I am not sure if there is something in the water over there or what. But I am getting distinct feelings of deja vu from 1914. Yeah I know Austria-Hungary, Serbia, et al isn't exactly Ukraine but still, egomaniacs on both sides, cascading alliances, paranoia and a disregard for consequences seems to be repeating history. Except now both sides are armed with nuclear ICBMs and the Dems and the Neo-cons are stoking the fire with gasoline. So far the only saving grace is that Trump, unlike Wilson is engaged and willing to be the adult in the room. Can you imagine if Harris and the Obama posse were running things now?
Personally, I'd like to see a free and independent Ukraine restored to its pre war borders. However, that isn't going to happen, especially with Zelenskyy in the Ukraine and Putin in Russia.
Agreed, except that I might let Russia have the Donbas region. Speaking with personal friends who have family in that area, I'm told the people there are Ukrainian citizens ONLY because of where the border lies, but the Ukrainian government in Kyiv hates them because most are ethnic Russians,d speak Russian as their first language, follow Russian customs, and if given the choice would rather BE Russian. We heard about how there's no consistent electricity or clean water or operational sewer systems in those communities, but what the media hasn't said is those services were shut off by Kyiv for years BEFORE the Russians invaded.*
So I say, give the people the choice.
I'm 100% sure Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian government have had that option presented to them, but the war is no longer about Russian aggression or the well-being of the people in the contested areas; it's now about the leaders' egos, which means it won't be over until one or the other can't continue or a stronger third party steps in to kick both out.

* - For all we know, the Russians, from the mid-level on down, could see the invasion and war as a rescue of sorts, saving their brethren from a tyrannical foreign government.
Russia has to fight against Clown World. They've seen what happened to Europe. And they haven't forgotten how Ukraine passed a law of genocide against ethnic Russians, and then slaughtered over 40,000 civilians.
It's way past time to end this war. Let the Eurpoeans get tired in thier own bad decisions.
President Trump is being treated like an adult who kept the 6 year old from eating the 3rd piece of cake at their birthday party.

Ukraine has carefully avoided drafting younger men who are expected to start families and have kids. They are very aware of the demographic pitfall.
