The rig for my Sig P365X
From Kirpatrick Leather in Texas. Their Model 2022 holster cut for red dot and the Model 72D Double Short Mag pouch. Both items in Hand Dyed Brown and the photo does not begin to do them justice. They both retain the items very well and the holster is getting the Wax Paper treatment for proper lubrication and care.
Last week I caught a glance of one stupid discussion in X about OC in a leather holster being a “Fudd-ish” cry for attention. I still do not commune with Open Carry, but if that is your tango, go ahead and dance it. But saying that a leather holster is a Fudd thing sounds like the crap a Tactical Tommy/ Gecko45 would say. I spent the weekend drawing and shooting with OWB Kydex and although reliable and concealable, I find the rigidity bothersome. And I am in search for a decent Kydex IWB for the Sig because I know from experience that rigidity is an advantage re-holstering right against the body over leather. Plus is cheaper and I would only use it for short periods of time.
But well-made leather rigs? Organic things of beauty and use.
And you can call me Fudd all you want.
these sorts of “arguments” are whats wrong with todays gun culture…. its full of trolls and yuge-ego-tiny-gun maroons. I was yakkin with a dealer at a gun show about Rock Island 1911s. this fat full of himself sneers “its a $400 1911”.. and I replied- yes, its a $400 1911 that goes BANG every fukkin time.. I had a Bianchi iwb holster for 1911s from 1986 to 2018. leather. now I run a We the People iwb kydex. it works, for ME. run what works for YOU.
The thing about leather holsters, made by skilled holster makers, is that they are shaped specifically to fit one model gun. Plastic holsters are generic fit-nothing devices. They sort of hold a gun of the right size range, with some approximation of security. Can you find a plastic holster that will pass the upside down shake test? I wonder. But I'm confident my leather holster will hold the Boberg that goes into it. And yes, I found a holster maker that offers holsters for Boberg. (Not many do but some.)
