MADRID, April 29 (Reuters) - Electricity had been restored to most of Spain and Portugal early on Tuesday after huge nationwide blackouts, although authorities were still trying to find out what caused the sudden outage.
since 2019 my state has pissed away 2BILLION on “green energy “… clear cutting forests to put up solar panels.. passing laws forbidding areas that had solar panels from being used to grow food. and mandate that power companies have to purchase “green” power at TWICE the going rate. welcome to a communist state run by liberals.
Per Wikipedia "Spain has five active nuclear power plants with seven reactors producing 20% of the country's electricity as of 2023." So with the 60% loss of "renewable" power, that leaves 20% other, probably natural gas. From the article Spain went through a period of try to shut down its nuclear plants, then stoping that and now working to extend their plants life span.
Funny how the greens haven't figured out that the sun doesn't shine on demand ant that wind is fickle. Then when the sacred green power goes out and the unicorns quit farting, they're all over finding a scapegoat to blame for their own idiocy.
Seriously, though, I would not be too quick to blame it directly on renewables; the wind doesn't stop on a dime, nor does cloud cover come quite that rapidly. I could easily believe, however, that deferred (aka neglected) maintenance due to green initiatives being prioritized, is a root cause.

Experience and warnings will go unneeded. History will repeat.
That’s only because humans don’t tend to learn, at least here at the Fall of The West.

They went full Greta.
Never, but never, go full Greta.
