Henry Lever Action Octagon Frontier in .22LR with a Vortex Crossfire II scope and a Hailey Ordnance can. The ammo was Wolf subsonic which performed without an issue. The rifle belongs to Oleg Volk, and it was the first thing I ever shot at his place the day I met him.
Shot from that bench and sandbag, I was getting very consistent shots at that steel pepper popper set about 100 yards away. And of course, no ear protection was needed which makes it a proper gun for back porch conversations.
I sent the above video to my BiL who is a fan of Henry guns, and he immediately texted back “is it for sale?” And believe you me, it is a combo worth having. I had to disappoint him and said it was not, but he now has a standing invite to come over Oleg’s and give it a session.
I talk myself out of getting a silence because they are expensive items and all the NFA crap that comes with them, but this gun makes me doubt the strength of my convictions. I could be tempted to get a bolt action .22LR with a threaded barrel, scope it and get a silencer for it.
And if you are thinking about the threading on the octagon barrel, I keep forgetting to ask Oleg about it as Henry’s site does not show they come ready for silencers. I am wildly guessing it was done post purchase, but do not quote me on that.
there are “reasonable” suppressors out there. Po-boy is one. generally.22 suppressors are reasonable. do some research and you will find one. NFA paperwork has been fairly quick recently too
Well if it isn't for sale, at least there's a parts list... :-)
