Why do we need Use of Deadly Force in Defense of Property.
Nashville's inexorable Californication process continues.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A group of masked, armed people breaking into cars was caught on South Nashville security footage. Police are still still searching for the suspects.
Alarming footage showed several people with guns jumping out of a sedan. Three stayed on the lookout while another suspect entered the car from the already-broken sunroof.
…
“They’re not getting caught. They realize that there are no repercussions at this moment for them, so why wouldn’t they?” Huffman said. “There are no eyes on them, essentially.”
Nashville, TN officials warn not to engage with car burglars
I believe that opposite is the way to go: Engage smartly with deadly force and that means from cover and without giving them a warning. But for that, we need the law protecting citizens from prosecution for defending property.
But what is the message being sent by our “leaders”?
Police said in a social media post about the car break-in if you see this in your neighborhood, don’t approach. Call 911. (Metro Councilmember Jeremy) Huffman agreed.
“It would have been extremely dangerous for John Q. Citizen to come outside and notice that their car’s being broken into,” Huffman said.
Huffman believes license plate recognition (LPR) technology could help catch criminals before they act again.
There has been a fight for the damned apparatus to be installed around Nashville with a group hard in favor and another hard opposing it and I believe neither is actually thinking about Citizens’ safety or Citizens’ rights but other less-noble motives. I guess the LPR technology is so good it will even read through covered plates or come up with the proper plate if missing or substituted by a stolen one. I believe it will have the same success in solving crimes as tracing firearms has had through these past many decades: Just about zilch.
And then comes the question of what happens if the armed crew decides to up the ante and figure out breaking into homes to retrieve the cars inside the garage or in the backyard is the way to go? I know, we are talking home invasion and Castle Doctrine applies, but do we need to wait for that to happen? I would much rather keep them outside the property and curtilage altogether, add a layer of defense sort of speak.
Or even yet: What if a neighbor or you get home from work or other activity and happen to bump into these “misguided” individuals doing their deed and they decide witnesses are not kosher?
Make it terminally expensive for the criminals to steal your property. A mugshot will not change minds. A chalked outline on the pavement surrounded by yellow crime scene tape however may make some rethink their career choices.
I still view theft, especially expensive items, as theft of one's lifetime.
THIS is the whole problem with America right now. treating law abiding citizens as criminals when crime instigated the event. Liberals infiltrate “normal” parts of America and fubar it into what they fled from.
