They eyes (don't) have it.
My current MicroStream is the red version because it turns out that when I need to get it out, it’s usually dark — and a black flashlight that you drop in the dark is a pain-in-the-tuckuss to find6; the red barrel one is easier to see in the shadows.
We have talked about small lights and EDC work knives before, but this part from LawDog’s post made me chuckle and also admit he is right.
For the last 45 years or more, my colors are pretty much dark blue or black for clothing and black for gear and I am now old enough with aging eyes to match and I keep finding myself wondering ““where the eff did I put (fill the blank)?, I just can’t see it.” I guess my other obsession for back ups comes from the fact that if I can’t find my regular tool, I know I have a spare to go to… as long as I remember to put it back to its default location once I find the misplaced item which was just in front of my nose in the dark spot I glanced at at least 5 times!
I am going to start following Ian’s example and start adding a bit of color to my tooling and equipment, if for nothing else than stop hearing my wife say “If it was a snake, it would’ve bit you. Open your eyes!”

fun, aint it? stuff can be bright neon pink and when it hits the floor it chameleons to the same color as the floor…
I had an electricians screwdriver with a clear plastic handle, got tired of digging thru the toolbox looking for it…
its bad when you need a flashlight to find the flashlight you dropped…
Back in November, I got a bundle of glowy bits from CountyComm - they need to hang out in the light to charge up, but I can hang a small tag or an elastic band on whatever I'm usually dropping, so theoretically I'll be able to find it.
I really need to dummy-cord my little Kershaw Chives, because once again I seem to have lost one... and this was a nice black one that I got a great deal on. :(
