The Naivete of Unchecked Immigration: I don't see a solution that will save the Country
I have delved on groups that I either have firsthand knowledge or know something about. Other people better suited than me also pointed out about unchecked immigration of possible direct security threats in the form of military-age Chinese and Middle Eastern males. Their fear is that we are about to have an American version of October 7 predicted in the book Day of Wrath by William R. Forstchen and others.
My reading of a new and very cruel form of organized gangs taking over part or even towns and cities creating independent/isolated crime feudal states is also possible. Latin-American gangs did form their own countries within the country of origin. The favelas in Brazil or the barrios in Venezuela are separated and individual mini-states with their own governance, economy and in some cases health care and currency. It is so dangerous to interfere with them that no Law Enforcement dares to enter unless for a quick ride and with initial overwhelming power which they damn well know would eventually collapse. Imagine a Black Hawk Down scenario, but with police training rather than military and no air support.
So, after two long-winded posts, do I have anything to offer in the way of solution? Nothing really or at least nothing that could pass constitutional muster or be used further than the road by the government to control the citizens. Then again, I do not believe there is a Judicial way to solve this problem. No court will even aspire to make a dent because they are playing under the rules of Chutes and Ladders and the Criminals will play under Darwinian laws.
Before I continue, I want to reiterate that I no longer believe this wave of immigration is allowed because a certain sector of our political structure has a soft spot for the “huddled masses yearning to breathe free,” wants them to have a better life and truly think they will become Americans. It is the same as what Chavez and the Socialists allowed to happen in Venezuela with the Trenes: create a crisis as means to keep people distracted, worried and in check. Freedoms and Human Rights take a lower priority if your life is threatened by thugs. How can you protest and organize opposition peacefully against the government when you can be robbed, raped or killed as you step out of your home?
But the Chavez and company mistakenly thought once power was consolidated, they would be able to reign in the criminal element. They discovered that you could induce massive cancer, but you cannot get rid of it without serious consequences and more than likely, not at all. Suddenly the Trenes (there are more than one in Venezuela) had become too powerful and a parallel government in some cases. The only reason that they are not a bigger threat to the Left in Power is because there is no trust and no alliance between Trenes. If that was to change, I believe we would see open warfare in the country
Allow me an explanation of what we are facing. Venezuela did not have the Trenes-style gangs prior to Socialism. Yes, there was a low-level/volume organized crime, and it was brutal, but never so extended as Trenes And the reason was simple: It was thinned out drastically by law enforcement; I guess the simplest way to define it is LEO Death Squads.
A small group of criminals decided to create a “Banda” and commit crimes of violence. It could be bank robberies (armed with military weaponry, included grenades), hitting big companies or business dealing with a lot of cash. Jewelries were also favorite targets due to Venezuelans not liking anything gold that was not 18 karat and above. Another of their favorite crimes was the “Express Kidnappings” where they would get a hostage, contact the family and give them a few hours to pay a reasonable fast to obtain ransom. It is easier to make a withdrawal for $1,000 and get your loved back in a couple of hours than having to deal with cops and the whole investigative thing while knowing that the kidnappers would hurt you kin.
Venezuelan police would deal with those Bandas in the regular “lawful” way, but if they started to get too violent, too effective and too admired by other criminals, then the game changed. Intelligence would be gathered about the members with emphasis in who the leader was (Caudillo, remember?), track them down and “confront” them whenever they could be found together. What usually happened then was pretty much condensed in their boilerplate press release that went along the lines of “after week-months of investigation, detectives located the ‘banda’ at a house in XYZ barrio, proceeded to go in and announced they were under arrest. The criminals refused to give up, an armed confrontation ensued and ended with the death of the criminal element. No officers were injured or killed in the raid.” Yes, it was a plain execution. No cops were ever investigated or hardly ever injured. I know of one case where a cop was shot but was a blue-on-blue event rather than a chance taken by a criminal.
Chavez ended this not out of the goodness of his soul, but because he had to disarm and disband all Law Enforcement in the nation and substitute them with politically reliable individuals. And since a number of those individuals were “formerly” criminals themselves, any measure of control against violent actors stopped. The predators, once their natural threats were removed, multiplied and expanded.
OK, bringing the conversation back to this country, what’s the solution? I have no idea. I know that Venezuela-style “police raids” are a no-go and measures that go against the Constitution cannot be taken by the government or they will be used more against the citizenship than the criminal element. And depending on who wins the election in a month, we will either see a curb in the introduction of more illegals (Direct criminals or their support groups) or a full unrestricted flood till they realized they screwed up.
I fear we will have to resolve to localized Vigilantism. Every city/town will have to create its own separate groups and contain whatever bad hombres run around their lands. And even that will not be a solution because I fear not that they will be effective but because there will not be able to meet cruelty with expanded cruelty. You do not resolve this issue with plain killing. You can kill one, five or one hundred in a efficient way and the rest will not care much and the supporters neither as they are used to death already. But there is the way they kill that makes the difference mentally: a shot to the back of the head is quick, painless, merciful (weak) whereas slowly carving your skull with a chainsaw in front of the corpses of your family executed in similar fashion sends a powerful message to everybody. Whomever is the cruelest, will gain the respect of everybody else and will also have their obedience.
Maybe I do not see a good solution because bad solutions are what I saw growing up. There is no collegiate way to reason with this people, no civil rules of engagement to follow and respect. And there is perhaps the issue: the definition of respect in each culture. For Americans is the worth of the individual as in what he has learned, archived and conducts himself in a manner that uplifts his/her soul. For them respect is the amount of fear you can induce by your actions, the more barbaric, the better as they will be very wary of trying you.
If we act, we lose the country. If we do not act, we lose the country.

We the People are to blame (partly) for this as we have been complacent in living and working our lives. not nipping liberals way back is the outcome we have now… utter chaos.. I believe you Sir have come up with the only solution- localized vigilantes will have to act.. We the People will have to recreate 1775 all over again. clean up local communities. I myself don’t (realistically) have high hopes we will do anything about this. look how hard it is to get a “red wave” going. as much as we all hate politicians, its the only way to start restoring America. it takes less than an hour to go vote… many employers give you the time to do it. Americans have a notoriously short memory of what evil can do- covid anyone?? ….. hurricane katrina anyone?? as the platitude says- all evil needs is good men to do nothing…. WE have been doing nothing for a long time….
The Constitution does have a rule permitting armed forces to deal with "rebellion". Attempts of gangs to create local empires fall under that, and could be squashed by the full force of the US military, such as it is nowadays.
Apart from that, assuming we don't let the bad guys disarm us, one difference from many other countries is that a LOT of good guys are armed. If even 10% of them come down on the bad guys with lethal force, there wouldn't be much left of them in short order.
