In Peru, a soccer player died after being struck by lightning during a match
The tragedy occurred on November 3 during a match between clubs Juventud Bellavista and Familia Chocca, held in the Peruvian city of Huancayo.
During the game, a heavy downpour began and the referee decided to stop the game. When the players started to leave the field, he was struck by lightning. The incident resulted in the death of 39-year-old soccer player Jose Hugo de la Cruz Mesa. Other injured players were taken to the hospital. They have serious burns.
