The Finally (almost) Finished AR-9
The Missus Gun
Final configuration is PSA lower with a Matador Adapter for Glock magazines. Kaw Valley Precision Carbon Fiber 9mm Complete 4.5″ Barrel upper. The red dot is TruGlo Ignite and having had and still have a couple working great in guns for the last 15 years, I was not going to pass PSA’s sale of $40.
OK, I did say “almost” in the title. Three upcoming changes to make it great for the Missus: 1) The red dot needs to go lower, so bye-bye that riser. 2) Arm brace to be changed for another already bought with a thinner bulk and 3) Smaller pistol grip also already bought. SWMBO is in the petite side, and I must adapt her house gun accordingly.
I ran a magazine with factory ammo and not a hiccup. Perceived recoil to me is almost a joke. After the changes, it will be time to properly zero it, run a couple hundred rounds and turn it to the wife as the birthday gift I promised her because I know I won’t be allowed to touch it ever again.
And that means my next built will be something similarly short, but in 5.56. I am not going down the rabbit hole of AR 9s again.
Now I have to figure out what to do with the Spikes Tactical lower.

Very nice Miguel, congrats on prevailing to "almost" the end--actually when you have a finished plan you are essentially at the end, been there done that.
So I take it the Missus wants a shoulder fired house gun, and wants it as light and short as possible?? If that's the case I get it.......but if not, why not go with a full-size pistol which holds just as many rounds and has the same length barrel and is lighter than the PCC 9mm.
I'm sure you have already planned for your AR-15 223, what length barrel do you plan to use? I have a custom-built AR-15 SBR in 223 Aero Precision with a Faxon 12.5" barrel which produces less than the best ballistics with most loads, but perfectly serves the size requirements I was dealing with.
However I am thinking about another build using the tested and proven AP upper and lower but this time with the 223 Wylde Barrels. Have you considered the 223 Wylde Miguel?
make another AR9 heh. 556 ammo is stupid expensive.. 9 is “reasonable”. I bought a .45 AR pistol and made it into a suppressed SBR. I don’t have any 9mm firearms but, 9mm has lots of choices for defensive rounds. and having similar firearms with different calibers can get confusing..9mm-556 ect. jmo
