Here is the video:
Thirty years plus after the Stockton massacre, we they are still losing our their collective minds with school shootings. And after three decades we still do not have a comprehensive mandate to harden our schools. After Parkland, it was discovered that although plans and money were available to harden the school, it was half assed implemented and were about 2 years or more behind schedule in its implementation if I recall correctly.
When the Gun Free Schools act was signed into law, Congress and the Executive promised that within a couple of years, every school in the U.S. would have constant police presence. And that has never come to pass and probably never will.
I am not going to stand here and say school massacres are preventable, but they can be reduced to the point of almost self-extinction. That will only happen if we make schools unattractive targets by redesigning/updating the physical plant and the mentality of the people (A.K.A. educating them).
Contrary to that Gun Control activists will try to sell you, the greatest mass murder body count in U.S. history were not done by guns but by arson. The 2017 Las Vegas shooting which is touted as the worse massacre in modern US history did not even collect half the bodies that one guy with matches did in 1944 during the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus show in Hartford, Ct. where at least 167 people died. (I know that people dismiss Robert Dale Segee as the arsonist because he was mentally “challenged” and it is easier to blame the circus. Then again it comes from the same circle that swore the Rosenbergs were falsely accused of espionage.)
Arson murders had happened before and continued after, but nobody ever thought about banning matches, lighters and other or demand background checks for their purchase. Instead, building codes were changed, fire suppression systems were installed and even people were trained to first avoid what would cause a fire or attack a fire and try to contain it. The result has been that massive loss of life by, arson, carelessness and accidents have dropped to almost negligible numbers.
But there is no real incentive from a good portion of politicians to make changes. It is easier and cheaper to blame Gun Owners that actually do effective change.
And probably the monetary contribution is hard to ignore. Nobody is willing to part with cash faster than a Liberal donating for Gun Control after a school shooting. Nothing sells like dead kids.
If they make the schools hard targets, they cannot wave little corpses and shriek for someone to seize guns. They don't WANT a solution; they want to grab guns. Period.
The largest mass murders in the USA were committed with airplanes.
On cops in schools: the left hate that. I think Mark O identifies one of the reasons.
Metal detectors might make some sense. Allowing school staff to be armed is likely to be a more effective answer.
