So, the NYC Democratic Mayor Primary is over and they elected the full-fledged Socialist Zohan Mamdani. And since nobody is going to vote but for the Democrats, he will is more than likely to be voted as the new Mayor of the Big Apple… unless the Democrats pull one of their fast ones and appoint a King/Queen over the will of the voters. Kamala does not count since she is apparently eyeing the governorship of California..
Why I say buy popcorn? This video is all I need to explain.
I saw that before being implemented by the now deceased (and hopefully burning in Hell) Presidente Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. In case you may have forgotten, things went so bad with this idea that they ended up controlling almost all means of food production when it did not work (They imposed the prices they were willing pay and producers were not selling) and the end result was an undeclared and unrecognized famine which led some desperate people to steal animals from zoos for protein.
And here is something rather telling he is a dumb Socialist that either has no idea of consequences, does not give a shit or somebody is going to make a mint creating a monopoly:
You know all those very local NYC minority-owned grocery stores called bodegas? Say bye-bye to them as they won’t be able to stay open paying taxes and rent while they are undercut by a Socialist scheme. Two things will happen: New Yorkers used to just walk a couple of blocks to get their stuff will now have to make special trips to the Government Stores and my bet is that they won’t be too close to home. I imagine NYCDotGOV will try and convert some of those bodegas to their scheme, but that will probably complicate what I can guarantee be a logistic shitshow to begin with.
The other thing you will see is a serious reduction of items and almost no choices. You either buy what they sell or do without or go to Jersey and buy the product that you want there. “You want Heinz ketchup? Sorry, Joe, we only carry Hunt’s because it is cheaper. Where is it? Well, we haven’t gout our latest shipment yet.”
Taxes will have to be raised to pay for this experiment. Ironically, taxes would have been a solution in the way of cuts: “We will drop all property taxes from bodegas and offer a 25% drop in income tax to any Bodega owner paying rent so they can lower prices.” But that won’t even cross their minds.
There is plenty more crap that will go wrong with this guy being mayor, but we will have to wait till he gets in office and the repercussions will be felt all the way to Florida.
That is a quality burn/troll right there.
Well, the government already has its hands on shelter and he would do food, I suppose clothing would be next.
Food shortages are imminent, NYC doesn't grow any food, it's all imported from somewhere else, Upstate NY, New Jersey,Pennsylvania, etc. If suppliers aren't willing to sell food to the city owned stores at the decreed prices, no food on the shelves (even the out of date and unpopular items). The rich and middle class will be able to afford to buy food from boutique stores for awhile but the working poor, probably not. To counter the boutique stores "competition and price gouging," the city will close them for "health violations" or tax them out of existence. Food riots anyone?
