You would think that after three decades of living in the US of A, I should have my brain firmly secured in all things American. Nope, some small details cannot be deprogrammed or reprogrammed.
I can’t do math in English. I cannot handwrite a seven without the slash and I cannot use a measuring tape set only for Imperial.
This? My brain simply cannot process.
How do I manage? With the exception of a couple of “long distance” units, all my measuring tapes are “bilingual.”
Metric & Imperial.
I can do whole inches, I can do half inches, but after that my brain enters vapor lock and I either revert to Metric or shit is measured be cut wrong forcing another trip to the hardware store.
And they are not that easy to find in the wild. Online? yes, but they tend to be pricey.
Cursing when startled was supposed to default to Spanish since that is the original language encoded in the brain. In reality I go Samuel L. Jackson on initial reaction and only switch to Spanish when I need to speechify afterward or there are ladies present.

Uline has metric measures (not too pricey). I may have been born in the USA, but my profession is in the physical sciences and that's been metric since day 1.
