She has served me well.
My hurricane rifle.
I posted a bit back about removing the plastic “upgrades” from my WASR-10 and taking it back to its somewhat original state. This past weekend I had a chance to finally shoot it in it sold/new configuration (or is it new/old?)
The foregrip is from a Polish AK and trimmed some to fit my hand and allow faster reload or at least less stupid. It has an extension of the mag release that allows you to drop it by the simple use of the trigger finger. And I added a guitar mini knob to the safety to disengage it with the trigger finger.

The red dot is a TruGlo, I forget the model, but has been in that rifle since probably 2005 and is still alive and true by the amount of steel ringing I got. Out of all the horror stories that came about the post-ban WASRs, I am one of the lucky ones that has none to tell.
Almost every hurricane we went through in Miami had this rifle standing near to me, and used only once. No bullets flew, but a trio of “yutes” decided to change its intentions and leave the area when they saw the silhouette of an object known across the world as a deliverer of final notices or painful and long lasting consequences.
I paid a gran total of $350 which included 2 mags and the background check. It amazes me that now I can probably walk in a gun show and have somebody offer me up to $1K for it.
She ain’t going anywhere.

It's nice to see someone with an optic mounted on the dust cover of an AK pattern rifle who isn't bitching about "SUB MOA" groups not being possible. That ain't what it's for, but she'll do the job (with your tasteful mods) long after we're both gone. Nice rig! :^)
Same with my Series 70 Colt Government Model aka "The Fat Lady" that I bought as a police officer.
(For those who don't understand the joke, the punch line is one kid telling another kid that the opera isn't over until the fat lady sings.)
