Re whose gun it is ... I still miss my first 1911. It was mine right up until Mrs B took a shot with it. She still lets me clean it, though, so there's that.
That second photo is a nice demonstration that the cylinder-barrel gap is not gas tight, and you should not keep your fingers in that area. I learned it the hard way, with a Mini Revolver where that mistake is a whole lot harder to avoid.
