And I am not talking about expensive or fancy shoes, but stuff that will stay on.
I was just reading Lee William’s latest: These boots saved me, twice. and read this part.
I live in a part of Florida where boots aren’t really needed, or so I thought. Flip-flops, tennis shoes or a pair of Crocs usually suffice, right? Besides, I’d get to the boots as soon as time allowed, or so I thought.
Things changed drastically when two hurricanes were forecast to hit southwest Florida — Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Even though I am not living in Florida, I still do the flip-flop thing simply because I have been doing it since I was a little one in South of The Caribbean and it is comfortable (till cold weather hits). But something I started doing long time ago is that flip-flops and other “comfortable” footwear are only for indoor at home. Maybe if the weather is very nice, for a quick stroll outside no farther than the curtilage. Anything else, gets shoes that can stay firmly attached to the feet and require an effort to remove.
It is easy when you have some warning to switch footgear from comfy to rugged. But when things happen suddenly and specially away from home, you do not want to be the idiot walking around barefoot over unfriendly pavement because you were forced to run for your life and lost your sandals or your mocs in the process.
When feces fly, it is nice not to worry about where or what your feet will land.
and pay attention to yer feet.. the littlest thing can turn into 4 months of walkers and crutches… yes Im speaking from experience…the “weakest” shoe I wear is sneakers. and they lace up..
The sheeple will disagree with your observations. I fully agree.
