About a couple of weeks ago, I was at work with a female coworker and we were trying to figure out an accesory for one of the machines we use. She is the pushy/stubborn type with almost no flex once her brain (or substitute) comes up with one idea.
She bitched and moaned about the accesory not making sense and I decided to use a bit of logic (gasp!) to figure it out. Now, when I mentally deconstruct something, I do it talking to myself and going step by step till I screw up, retrace my steps and come up with a new direction/way to do things and fix the issue. It helps me to think things in a constructive but admittedly weird way.
But apparently my female companion did not understand the principle, and even when I was adressing myself by name several times, she actually took it personally:
“Don’t talk to me like I am two years old!”
From somewhere in my brain, a sliver of self control managed to wrangle my tongue and avoided me a trip to HR. My ready to deploy reply was “ You are not 2 year old. They have a brain that actually absorbe knowledge. I said nothing other than I had to do something somewhere else and left her fuming and stewing in her own cauldron of victimization. Later, I managed to figure out how to get that accesory going and I texted her the methodolgy with pictures included. I figured that I could be an asshole and let her keep crashing like the proverbial fly against the window, or be nice and extend the olive branch of helpfulness.
Boy, was I wrong.
She replied in all caps “I LEARN BY DOING IT!
I take help when I need it and I sometimes I eat humble pie with a side of crow when my hubris gets in the way. But if you are too stupid and get your Victimization badge between your brain and your duty, please go ahead keep making an spectacular ass out of yourself. I will be on the side with the popcorn laughing my ass off.
i have a “tech” that is paid to do the same job I do… his official name is “ job security “ because I end up going to fix what he supposedly has fixed.. unofficially he is called “know-it-all- paul cause he has this same attitude. people like this make a job harder than it has to be..
Yeah ... Started a reply a couple of times and each time nothing really useful was the result. Some people are just like that, and hopefully we wind up not working closely with them going forward.
A lot of basic "correction methods" (eaten by lion, dismemberment by wildebeest, almost died from eating bad berries, getting smacked for mouthing off to the wrong person, etc.) have been removed or remediated in the past 10k years or so, and some recessive traits seem to be re-expressing in the gene pool.
