NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One person is dead and another is in police custody following an overnight shooting in Madison.
According to authorities, just before midnight Wednesday officers were called to a townhouse complex in the 300 block of Walker Terrace.
Officials said the shooting occurred after a woman called for assistance from family members during a domestic dispute. When the family arrived, the suspect opened fire and shot one of the them several times.

Cops will tell you that they approach domestic situations with apprehension because they tend to get volatile in a jiffy and them or/and other people will get hurt. But truthfully how have we planned to approach that late call from a dear family member who inform us that their significant other was abusive? A daughter or sister being abused will trigger our rescue instincts and we feel we must end their suffering now thus responding without thinking.
I guess whether we like it or not, our first action is to call authorities and have them approach that situation. We must just step back and be present for the support the aftermath will require. The late Jim Cirillo said something in the lines of “you are not a cop, not paid to be one.”
and if you respond like a cop, YOU can get dead or charged with a crime….
Bad case of that in Columbus OH (one of the burbs) some years ago. Two cops responding to a domestic got ambushed by the guy. With a rifle. Both cops lost their life on that one.
