Even though I have attended a local chain gym for a while now, I do not consider myself a gym rat. I go because I am trying to stay healthy by not allowing “rust” to set in and be one of those guys who can barely walk to the mailbox…. again.
I even choose to go at a time where there are very few people in attendance because 1) I am not a gregarious person, and 2) I want to avoid the silly crap that you hear and read about in gyms like the guy or gal that has to mark 2 or 3 machines with personal items so you do not use one of them while they are on another one lest you interrupt their routine.
But my particular case I am dealing with one gentleman (who gives me strong cop vibes) who seems to have developed and playground mentality about one particular machine and either deny me or delay me of its use. I have an established routines of machines I do daily, and I use the contested one in particular because the way is set in, is less taxing on my operated lower back. Mind you, there are 4 other machines in the gym that address the same exercise, but the gentleman chooses this one whenever I am around even though I have seen him use the others when I beat him to the punch or has not seen me in the gym.
Today was the most egregious of the actions. I had just finished another machine on the opposite side of the location, and he walked in the gym, didn’t even changed or dropped his bag in a locker as he usually does and went straight to take possession before I could get nearby. I just turned around and headed for the door.
If he is trying to assert Alpha Male Wolf standing, he can have it. I am not going to waste time energy and the possibility that if he is a cop ending up on the wrong side of handcuffs because he trapezes his genitalia. If his ego is that fragile that needs silly reassuring games, he can play with himself. I am not swallowing that bait. He can form the absolutely wrong opinion of me and have me tagged as weak and non-dangerous, OK to ignore.
I really do not see a disadvantage with that assessment.
the world is chock full of adult-sized toddlers. we have the freedom to not play with them..
They exist all over. I think it's a combination of the time of year (Holidays! and Winter), the general malaise that has settled over the Nation and an "I'm the greatest Me that ever lived" attitude!
