Non-Citizen gets job as a cop with a gun. So many questions.
Federal immigration agents have arrested a Hanover Park police officer they claim overstayed a tourism visa, but village officials say the arrest contradicts the information they had received from the federal government earlier this year.
Radule Bojovic, a native of Montenegro, was “encountered during a targeted enforcement action,” according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He remained in immigration detention as of late Thursday in the Clay County Justice Center in Indiana, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s detainee locator.
According to the Village of Hanover Park, Bojovic presented a valid and recently renewed work authorization card when he was hired back in January. The department also conducted a full background check with Illinois State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Having a Employment Authorization Document means he is not even a Legal Resident which means the full background check may or may have not happened, nor he has been approved to stay in country in a long term or permanent basis.
And the town went ahead and hires him as cop?
Then comes the question of carrying a gun. That is a bit murkier since ATF talks just about purchasing a gun:
An alien legally in the U.S. is not prohibited from purchasing firearms unless the alien is admitted into the U.S. under a nonimmigrant visa and does not meet one of the exceptions as provided in 18 U.S.C. 922(y)(2), such as possession of a valid hunting license or permit.
[18 U.S.C. 922 (d)(5), (g)(5) and (y)(2); 27 CFR 478.11 and 478.32(a)(5) ]
But since the gun is given by the city and not bought by him, he might bypass Federal law.
And the way I read Illinois FOID card checklist, he is not supposed to be able to get it because he is here on a non-immigrant visa.
Background checks are only as good if whomever is in the office having a good day and the proper amounts of coffee consumed. I have been twice denied for no effing reason other than fuck ups. The first time I was asked by the owner of a gun shop what was I doing out of Death Row in Raiford because that is where the BGC said I was. The second time I had to do the full appeal and I never got a reason why I was denied in the first place.
This one is going to be an interesting one to follow.

"Illegal immigrants aren't voting, you're crazy."
"Illegal immigrants aren't getting Medicaid, you're crazy."
"Illegal immigrants aren't getting driver's licenses, you're crazy."
"Illegal immigrants aren't working in government positions, you're crazy."
Time for new conspiracy theories.
Alien/non-citizen swears to defend the Constitution and enters job where he can deny *citizens* their freedom, beginning with handcuffs and possibly ending with a "good shoot" resulting in death. Uh huh.
