New Pope and Old Hates.
So we have a new Pope: Leon XIV. And The dude comes from Chicago even though he has spent a considerable chunk of his episcopal life in South America. What do I know about the guy? Just about nothing. What does it mean for me? So far, a source of jokes and memes beginning with “Trump became President and the next thing we know is the first American Pope is elected. Make The Vatican Great Again!”
But there is always a reminder that some people still have some ferocious hate for all things Catholic. I have seen a thankfully small amount of rabid comments about the new Pope and Catholics in general and pretty much always bringing the issue of the cover up of the child molestation cases of decades past, but mostly as an excuse to freely spout against the Church, not because they really care about the victims of sexual abuse, because you don’t see them losing the same amount of mental feces about the members of the Southern Baptist Conference being sex offenders, but as the meme poignantly says “That is not of my business.”
Where does that hate truly comes? No idea and really I don’t care. I don’t think even Martin Luther could hold a grudge that long, so there is some other stuff I do not know because even ATF gets less shit than we do.
Dear Dudes and Dudettes: Give it up with the Pope-Catholics-Hate Fest. You look and sound as stupid as Islamists crying offense because I am eating a pulled pork sandwich in public (or private for that matter) and claim it offends their sensibilities. You are the reason I don’t identify as Catholic but as a Papist and yes, it is just to twerk the living daylights out of your embedded irrationality.
