A surprisingly feel good movie. No political crap or hi-falutin pretensions, just a straight nice movie. The main line is Vince Vaughn’s character decides to open a restaurant where the chefs are Italian grandmothers because he was to serve not just food but family love and it is very European to show love by stuffing you with good food.
He was also trying to recreate his grandmother’s Sunday family meal sauce and I guess that is part of why the movie appealed to me since I had been trying to recreate my mother’s Calamares en Crema for a long while now and I managed to do so last week, well almost, mom’s will always had that secret ingredient which is mentioned in the movie.
Be advised, do not watch this movie on an empty stomach. It will be pure torture.
PS: There might be ninjas chopping onions close by as you watch the movie.
Thank you for that review! We watched it last night and agree 100%.
