If your cause is righteous, why lie?
Domestic Violence Month brings new opportunities to obfuscate.
I love when they give me material to write about for free.
Get several items, mash them together and come up with a wild assertion designed to shock you.
Let’s begin with where they got those statistics. I clicked in the link, but I was taken to a page repeating almost the same drivel but offering no numbers. Searching on my own I discovered a study by the Harvard School of Public Health from 2022:
October 21, 2022 – Women in the U.S. who are pregnant or who have recently given birth are more likely to be murdered than to die from obstetric causes—and these homicides are linked to a deadly mix of intimate partner violence and firearms, according to researchers from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
I hope you noticed the “recently given birth” part because according to the experts and the CDC a woman is still pregnant up to a year after delivery.
If you dig in the Harvard report, you get a link for the summary of somebody else’s report: Pregnancy-Associated Homicide and Suicide: An Analysis of the National Violent Death Reporting System, 2008-2019 - PubMed (nih.gov). And here is where the things start to go bad for “Safer” TN because while they tried to paint the picture and poor defenseless pregnant women are being decimated by their redneck husbands or mass murderers mowed a buss full of pregnant ladies while they were shopping for baby clothes at Walmart, the numbers in the report contradict them.
And they had to include suicides otherwise their numbers would look downright puny.
That comes to 291 homicides (weapon unspecified) a year and double that for suicides. And that includes up to a year after delivery. I could not find data on pre- and post-delivery homicides and suicides, but I will not wrong to consider suicide post-partum being much a much bigger number. I did find this set of numbers from Four in 5 pregnancy-related deaths in the U.S. are preventable | CDC Online Newsroom | CDC
Now we have the possibility that out of the average 291 homicides a year, perhaps 146 actually occurred during gestation and not all by firearms. And yes, every one of them is horrible, but that is not an excuse to make statements up and create false narratives. You get tied to your falsehoods and have to create non-solutions to non-issues rather than concentrate resources where you can benefit the most.
But we already know the Opposition feeds its coffers on a prostitute bed of lies.
But listen to them shriek if you draw any links to lesbian relationships.
The way something is worded is very important. Words have power, and must be examined.
"...more likely to be murdered than to die from obstetric causes"
Here, let me highlight the important part: "...than to die from obstetric causes"
I could tell the stats were easy to manipulate as soon as I saw that.
