Miguel, there is a solution. This works for me.
First, do you have a basement, garage or even a long hallway in your house? If so, you are 50% complete.
Next, go to the Pyramyd AIR website. They sell a lot of neat stuff, including very realistic CO2 guns (among other airguns). Airguns are not usually regulated highly in the legal realm (I get mine delivered to my door by the US Post Office or UPS, along with CO2 and pellets/BB's.) I can recommend the Umarex Gen 5 GLOCK and SIG P320. There are many others. Order some.
While waiting, go to the US Post Office and pick up some Medium Flat Rate boxes. Assemble them and stuff them full of newspapers and magazines; that's your backstop. I'm sure your handgun skills are sufficient to hit it 99% of the time. For the other 1%, back the backstop with heavy cardboard.
When the order arrives, make some targets, block off your indoor home range and hone your skills.
Soon, your wife will gladly concede to your purchase of a shipping container range for the backyard or she will want her own air/gas powered practice guns and join you.
