Homeless: You keep using that word.
I love calling Nashville the San Francisco by the Cumberland because every day it passes, it looks more and more like the Liberal cities we fear to live in. Since I am a newcomer to TN, I have no idea how the city turned into a stupid town, but the signs are out there to see and enjoy.
Homelessness is growing bad and, of course it is being used by the usual suspects to extract money form the taxpayers and the kind souls who feel it is their Christian duty to help those in need of help. The problem is that the concept we have been told of homeless is applied to people that are not truly applicable towards. Let me explain.
When the Liberal Money Suckers come to you with a plight of homelessness, they pull out the poor displaced family with two doe-eyed children up front telling you a probably true story of bad luck or disaster and you get to feel guilty for not opening your wallet (or Venmo account) and contribute to their help. The same Liberal Money Suckers will try to latch on to you for more because there are still many more “homeless” out there that need more help and if you don’t have more to give, maybe you write your local politician so they can distribute some of that “free money” (taxes)towards their “homeless” and the programs created to help them. That way you can feel better about yourself because you “helped.”
But who are those homeless the Liberal Money Suckers are selling? Let’s define who really is who:
Real Homeless: I define them as people who have really had problems beyond their control. Accident or Force of Nature has displaced them. longtime place of employment closed for good and they are in a situation where have o income, no housing and no way to feed themselves. But these are the kind of people that even though they are actually worth helping, the Liberal Money Suckers don’t care much for other than use as advertisement because once given help, they take it with both hands and commit the ultimate sin against Liberalism: The pull themselves out of the dire straits and fix their lives. They will eventually not be Homeless and have good lives. Good Lives do not generate income for the Liberal Money Suckers.
Hobos: Although sold as homeless and technically they do not have a home, they are so because of personal choice and love the lifestyle. But from what I have read and seen, they do not consider themselves in some sort of plight, are willing to work for enough money to cover their needs and move on and by far are not criminals but just people that walk the Earth. They are nomads not poor defenseless “homeless” in need of the guilt-ridden charity imposed upon you by the Liberal Money Suckers.
Mental Health Cases: In MHCs I cover both the people with naturally occurring mental sicknesses and some substance-induced problems. Both could use help and probably take it and be healed or at east coped with, but apparently anything to direct them towards that goal that can be perceived as coercing is a no-no and therefore they are left to their merciless plight. Nothing says “love” than somebody hallucinating badly and taking a bath but naked in a local public park.
Bums: A totally politically incorrect word to define those who are the bulk of the “homeless” problem. Their main behavioral characteristic is that they chose to live like that and refuse any help that can lead them out of their life. They have great acting skills when it comes for begging, but the mask fall quickly if you reply to them with a firm “no” and show you how displeased they are at your lack of charity. (I had one yesterday like that. He went from God Bless You to Fuck you in 0.25 seconds) I would say 99% of them are substance abusers of some kind and truly do not give a damn about curing themselves. It may be a harsh thing to say, but they are where most of the donation & tax money is targeted and where is wasted. It is wasted because we as society will not get a good social return for the expenditure and, of course, because some (or a lot) of that money will be disbursed for “operational” expenses rather than finding a cure.
This past winter in Tennessee had a particularly cruel couple of weeks when it came to cold temperatures and winds. I saw bums living outside approached several times by people (Government, civilian and church) who offered them assistance of all kinds to get out of the frightful weather and were refused, sometimes with anger.
They chose that way of life and death. You should not feel bad for their self-inflicted plight and you should not be wasting your money on them. If you feel you must help, you will be probably best served doing it through a church, even if you are not a believer. Churches tend to have great B.S. filters and are better at doling out help to those who need it and want it.
OK, as usual, this is just my humble opinion. Your millage may vary.
ever since the pilgrims landed in 1620 we have had bums. lazy people who don’t want to work but want what working people have. when liberals closed mental hospitals and turned patients out in the streets, liberals created programs to give druggies free drugs and drug supplies creating more “homeless”. bums decided they can make money begging instead of getting a job. handout programs create more people wanting the handout. want to fix “homeless”? STOP enabling them. vote liberals out of office. lets make liberals homeless
I've seen the formulation CATO 4321. 40% are Crazy, 30% are Addicts, 20% are Tramps i.e. the 'happy homeless" and 10% are the genuinely zeroed-Out, victims of some calamity who could actually be helped by a menial job and a place to stay.
