Dangerous to take the bus in SFBC (San Francisco By the Cumberland AKA Nashville)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville leaders are rolling ahead with their multi-million dollar expansion of WeGo Public Transit services.

Crime at WeGo bus stops and hubs remain an issue. In fact, one of the most recent incidents took place Wednesday at a bus station in downtown Nashville. According to an arrest affidavit, five people were involved in a fight at the station.

Earlier this month, on Feb. 5, three men were arrested for beating and robbing a man at WeGo Central. Meanwhile, back in November, a 16-year-old was shot and killed in the waiting area at WeGo Central.

I have seen the WeGo buses and I although I refuse to do public transportation*, the units look in good shape, clean and I have not seen any driven by NASCAR rejects taking it out their racing frustration in Nolensville Road.

But figures that scum will chase after people where they are easy to reach and attack. WeGo policy prohibits “unauthorized weapons”, but it is not specific what they mean by that which makes me think it is ambiguous on purpose to apply as they wish. Some may fear they are not allowed to legally carry on property or vehicle belonging to WeGo and go unarmed, but the bad guys already ignore such legal details.

Anyway, prepare accordingly.

*(I did use public transportation maybe half a dozen times back in Miami, but I carried since other than posting GFZ signs, there was no legal authority to enforce a prohibition. And there were some strange humanoid critters in there.)
