The TV newscasts are full of platitudes and sweet remembrances for dear old Jimmy. This post ain’t like that.
He had many colossal fuck-ups and I will just mention two: The Mariel Boatlift where he allowed many of the Cuban criminal element from Castro’s prisons to access and remain in the U.S. bringing that great wave of violent drug-related crime.
And then the Peanut Farming asshole lend his name to legitimize all the crooked re-elections and schemes of Hugo Chavez transforming Venezuela from a Third World country into a cesspool of communist failure that made the USSR look good in comparison.
Situation went so bad that Venezuelans started to leave the country and illegally migrating to the US, among them, the hardcore gang members released by Chavez-anointed President Maduro that are gaining foothold in several states.
Oh yes! Carter also went on to legitimize the elections keeping Maduro in power and rubbed elbows with the communist prick.
If there is justice in the aftermath, I figure Carter is enjoying the weather with Hugo Chavez somewhere down there.
My military career spanned several presidents' terms (30 years); I was thinking maybe I was hallucinating when I read all the accolades. He was a first class idiot pure and simple ("simple" in this case an unintended pun). I don't fly my flag at half staff for the death of 99% of politicians (some exceptions), at least not until policy is that we do so when military members are killed, and it will remain at FULL staff for the next 30 days unless there is some other reason to lower it. I wonder if someone will be writing a book soon -- Death of a Jackass.
By all accounts, an eminently reasonable and pleasant fellow who was wrong about EVERYTHING he ever held a policy position on. I had no use for him when he was allegedly alive. I certainly can't see speaking well of him going forward.
