The Missus and I are fans of watching police videos in Youtube and one of the things we noticed is that vehicle pursuits in most locales California take a long time to be resolved and it is treated as full fledged reality tv show. Other states tend to be less patient and end the BS within minutes if safely possible.
And then we have San Francisco by the Cumberland (AKA Nashville):
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A woman with a criminal history in multiple Middle Tennessee counties, including Davidson, has tacked on 15 new charges after leading law enforcement on a low-speed, hours-long pursuit on Interstate 24 in Nashville Tuesday morning.
When Katlyn Wray, 28, was asked by law enforcement why she didn’t stop, she said “I’m already on paper for ten years anyway,” according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Driver in low-speed chase tells police why she didn’t stop
Here is the description of the beginning and the end of the pursuit according to the arrest affidavit:
Beginning.
3:45 a.m. - Wray was driving at speeds around 8 to 15 mph
During the pursuit, officers successfully spiked all four tires of the Nissan Altima. MNPD said officers observed Wray driving through several red lights and stop signs, swerving into opposite lanes, and swerving erratically between lane.
End:
7:30 a.m. - THP successfully stopped Wray and took her into custody
Almost four hours at slow speeds and they could not stop her till THP got in the dance. In the meantime, you can imagine the cluster flock of traffic on I-24.
Nashville is (not-so) slowly circling the drain into becoming a true Metropolitan city where you can have your gluten-free sushi and ramen while stabbed by a random nutjob who made camp next door from the local police precinct with the blessing of the city council.
Robert A. Heinlein observed that any animal can be driven insane by placing too many in too small an area. And that mankind is the only one that does this to himself voluntarily.
Apparently blue cities are the result.
And people wonder why the crime rate in Nashville keeps climbing…
