I was privileged to attend the 9th Annual East Tennessee Blogshoot ran by David Brena Bock and Michael Farnette. It was great to finally meet in the flesh people I have been interacting online for over a decade in a half such as the original “Masshole” (His appellative, not mine) Jay Grazio, Weer and Mal among many others.
And sweet baby Jesus, I have not shot so much auto in my life. I suck and remembering makes and models, but there were brass rainbows galore. Pistols by the bucket, and some weird stuff that defies logic. There was a nice FAL, but you could not shoot it unless you were wearing Rhodesian cammo Daisy Dukes.. OK, I am kidding. My Spanish heritage was celebrated with the discharge of a Cetme, and the one gun that made me drool was a Beretta “Mossad Special” with a can shooting CCI Quiets one after another without a hiccup and the only think you could hear was a barely audible “click.”. Dumb of me, I forgot to take a picture of it.
Anyway, here are a bunch of photos of the toys and the people.
My guess is that there were well over 100 firearms present. I cannot even begin to think about how much brass was left behind, but even the harcore reloaders went “Oh hell no, that’s too much!”
I missed the pre and after-shot gatherings, due to brain farts, but that will not happen again. The area is a gorgeous location to spend vacation if you are not into going to tourist traps and can live comfortably in a cabin with full facilities including wifi.
David informed me that next year will happen again in Columbus Day. And yours truly is going to be there (properly supervised by the Missus) doing the week-of-vacation thing.
I think the sign in the background of the 5th picture says "noisemen" but due to the placement of the roof support post in front of it what's actually visible is not quite that. :-)
It looked like a very good time! Did you bring any hardware and freedom seeds?
