NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Nashville security guard was arrested after police say he fired his weapon out of fear in a reckless manner.
Steven Nelson, 39, is charged with reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.
Officers were dispatched to 7-Eleven at 2200 Brick Church Pike for a fight involving Nelson, who serves as an armed security guard.
Nelson got into an argument with a man who was causing a disturbance, police said, and that argument turned into a shoving match.
Nelson was eventually punched in the face and threatened, according to police, so he decided to fire a shot into the ground outside the business, police said.

I am not going to discuss the use of deadly force: it was just stupid and shooting to the ground unless the law allows you will simply tell cops and prosecutors you were not in real fear for your life.
My point is what kind of neighborhood is it that the franchisee of 7-11 had to hire an armed guard to protect. Not a good one, right? You don’t see many 7-11s like that.
And I do not mean to avoid the area altogether (Don’t go to stupid places, etc.) but it is good to know that if you end up in such area, your already heightened precautions should go up at least two more clicks.
Exactly, "Location". Makes me wonder what the mindset is of the person who applies and gets this job. Desperation in a bad economy? Needed some excitement to make life more interesting? Perhaps he just wanted to 'do some good in the community'.

Speculating from the peanut gallery here but would like to know more details, which I'm sure would make it more fun than a barrel of ......... whatever.
