First Axiom of Politics: It's not the action that's important, but the political party of the person taking the action.

I think there's also a dash of NIMBY in the outrage over Gov. Lee possibly sending the TN National Guard into Memphis.

First, the outrage was over whether President Trump (the Commander-in-Chief of the military, but nevermind that) has the authority to send a State's NG into an area; the Dems said no, that's a Governor's job.

Then, there was still outrage when a Governor said he'd do it.

Both Pres. Trump and Gov. Lee are Republicans, sure, but I don't think that explains all of the outrage. Some of it, but not all.

I think it's also that Pres. Trump was saying he'd send the NG into a BLUE State. If he were going to send the NG into a Red State, or if a GOP Governor might send the NG into a Red county/area, they'd be okay with that.

But Memphis is a BLUE city -- that just happens to be in a Red State -- and the Dems don't want and will not allow the NG to be sent into their strongholds. It's a NIMBY reaction.

The outrage is partly because Pres. Trump and Gov. Lee are both Republicans, and partly because both are saying they'd send the NG into BLUE areas. If the NG were going into Red areas, there'd be significantly less outrage over either of them sending the Guard.

Democrat lawyers and judges have discovered there is no penalty at all for them doing whatever they want through the courts. So why shouldn't they indulge their whims at taxpayer expense?
