And I shot a couple of guns.
On the left is a MAC 5K 9mm pistol with brace and a Gemtec can. On the right is a Winchester Xpert, bolt action in .22LR with a Winchester Supreme 4-12x44 scope and an unidentified silencer.
The MAC 5K is a faithful semi-auto reproduction of the MP5 according to their website, but since I have zero experience with an original, I go with what they say and the amount of people I respect owning one and being very happy about it. Holy crap what a sweet gun to shoot!
Perceived recoil was null for me and with the attached Burris red dot, it would deliver accurately over and over till we emptied the magazine. I understand every Gun Head wanting to have one for the cool factor, but the performance for short and medium distances is dependable and impressive as heck. It retails in the $1,300 and I have to say although way out of my economical zip code, I don’t see it as stupid expensive.
And now let’s do the “cheap” gun: The Winchester Xtreme. An under $300 bolt action rifle in .22LR that looks very nice and it is amazingly accurate. Paired with the Supreme 4-12x44 scope, I was doing easy 100 yard shots at a 8 inch steel gong. But with the addition of the silencer and shooting standard velocity ammo, we have what Oleg Volk calls a “back porch gun”: quiet enough not only to shoot safely without ear protection, but you can be having a conversation with other folks under the awning.
I forgot to take pictures of the rifle in action, but I wanted to add that I was impressed as hell about the Supreme scope: It was clear and sharp and gathers light beautifully for a scope that you can get in Optics Planet for well under $200.
In summary: I WANT BOTH PLATFORMS!
Anybody has lotto numbers they like to share?
