Gym suspended thanks to stray screw. Good news is that it was a screw which lets air go out slowly, a blessing since the missus was the one driving the truck last and she made it home safely.
While I was mumbling the obligatory old-fart curses and invectives, I tried to remember when was the last time I had a flat and by the love of me I cannot remember when it was, perhaps a couple of decades although I don’t have any recollection of a flat while we lived in South Florida.
Even so, the deeply ingrained “How to change a tire” training from my youth shed its heavy coat of rust and got the tire out without major issues other than “remove lower limb from underneath the raising vehicle, you dumbass” self-warning and the obligatory “Dear God, what was the setting on the frigging impact wrench? 10 tons?”
Now to wait for the tire shop to open up and have the big rubber donut fixed.
Never fun to deal with. But very glad the Missus didn't come to harm. I've had a tire go sideways at high speed and that was a major pucker event.
Last flat I had was an allen/hex wrench. How the F it got into my tire I will never know.
But, yep... The training as a youth kicked in without hesitation. Back on the road with the spare in about 15 minutes.
