A weird case shows you don't know what your attacker will look like.
This is from last December.
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) - Middle Tennessee State University students are mourning the death of a professor.
Ashleigh McKinzie, 41, was killed in a shooting Thursday morning, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. She was reportedly found shot multiple times roughly 50 miles away from campus.
“Considering, how fierce of an advocate she was for non-violence and for her to go so violently has been very jarring for all of us,” MTSU student Olivia Kilpatrick explained.
Authorities say she was found with a gun next to her. Officials also reported that a man was at the scene and in possession of a weapon when they arrived.
…
The sheriff’s office has not revealed if the gunshots were self-inflicted or if she was murdered. They also have not said how the 41-year-old is connected to the man.

No arrest was made initially and the man at the scene was cooperating fully with the authorities. In another source, we have a quote from one of her students:
Her sudden, unexplained death has naturally shocked her students, who said she always found ways to engage them, even on difficult topics such as domestic violence, sexual abuse, etc. According to the university website, McKinzie earned degrees from four different academic institutions, including her PhD from the University of Georgia in 2017 — one year before joining the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at MTSU
Another student, Olivia Kilpatrick, a senior in the course, told WZTV, “She was such a fierce advocate for nonviolence. For her to go in such a violent way is just so striking for all of us. Like, what could have happened?”
Rumors started to fly about this being a lovers’ quarrel ending bad and then the final report was released just a couple of days ago.
A public information release on Thursday from Bryant C. Dunaway, District Attorney General for the 13th District of Tennessee, revealed a toxicology report for MTSU professor Ashleigh McKinzie that showed toxic levels of meth and ADHD medication in her system at the time of her death in December.
The district attorney’s office closed the case after determining that Todd Stanton, who found McKinzie on the side of the road while he drove to work, acted in self-defense by protecting himself from “imminent danger.” The DA declined any prosecution against Stanton, according to the release.

On the link just above, you can get the whole report. It seems her addiction simply made her paranoid and it was last December when the gaskets finally blew. Her encounter with the man was just sheer happenstance and they had nothing in common other than both being armed. He was the better shot.
Stanton recalls seeing a figure, later identified as McKinzie, wave him down while driving to work. McKinzie walked to Stanton’s truck. He realized that she had a gun in her hand and grabbed his loaded gun from the center console, the release said.
McKinzie pointed her gun at Stanton through the windshield of the truck, according to the release.
“He felt that he could not take the chance of what else she would do,” the release said.
Stanton shot through the windshield as McKinzie crouched in front of the car. When McKinzie stood up, Stanton fired two more rounds.
Damn, just damn. Stanton probably thought she was a woman in distress (I know I would had) and almost cost him his life or at least grievous wounds. It is a sad thing that we are to the point in our culture that being a gentleman comes with the risk of death.
Is it me or are more women taking over what was once traditional male roles of craziness and stupidity?

Sadly enough, the woman was seriously addicted to mind altering substances. Her violent, paranoid behavior put others at risk. That man who thought he was helping her was forced to do what he did to stay alive.
A tragedy. All around.
my exwife devolved into a drug and alchol infused phycho. sometimes those bleating about something are in fact neck deep in doing that same thing. its called deflection.
