Libertarianism is a great idea, but the Party, oh, my God…

There's good reason why SF writer L. Neil Smith, one of the early intellectual leaders of the Libertarian Party, dropped them and switched to supporting the Republican party. I think "you have to win to make things happen" was part of it, but this sort of nonsense was undoubtedly a big reason as well.

I see that. After Ron Paul, it looks like the party has descended into gibbering idiocy.

When you are a toddler, and your politicians think and act like children, and your voters are all spoiled self aggrandizing preschooler level adults, you do stuff like that.

I don't want to sound judgmental, but there was a time not so long ago when some of the behaviors we see today would be deemed "crazy", demented, mentally ill, dysfunctional, crass, inappropriate, bizarre, outré, sick, ill-advised...nth. Decorum, politeness, civility, self-restraint are dying concepts. I will reach out and embrace SMoD when it brings us a fiery cleansing.
