A coup, you say?

Someone else has predicted a coup among military leadership who suspect they're likely to be axed.

I'm going to explain why this will not happen.

First, they're not being threatened with execution. Merely with getting their pensions a little earlier than they planned, and moving to some private sector job with, let's be honest, the Chinese, who a bunch of them are already beholden too. And along that line, the Chinese do not want them making waves.

Second, there is no process available for this. General says, "Colonel, I may be forcibly retired. I want you to plan an attack on ___."

The colonel realizes he'll be general soon if he just ignores an obviously illegal order, or reports it directly to the incoming administration. Also, if he's on the take, he doesn't want to wreck his own cushy consultancies.

Third...where would they get the forces and munitions to do this? It requires a whole bunch of officers to all agree, not dissent, not flat out refuse, not scream to the public and Administration that it's happening.

The logistics officers would have to go along with issuing all the munitions and gear, knowing if it fails they ARE NOW liable to be executed for treason.

Also, this is the 21st century. Those weapons, troops, and gear aren't moving in secret. It will be blatantly fucking obvious, and with no disrespect to the Army, it takes a single loyal USAF pilot in an F35 to pretty much eliminate all of them in a few seconds. Done. The cleanup of debris will take a while, but that will be the punishment for failing to stop this.

Then, who is this coup to be against? The current administration to prevent Trump coming in? Wait until he's sworn in? Do it at the inauguration? "We're holding a coup over something that hasn't happened yet and may or may not, for reasons," won't play well in the world news. But who exactly do they coup against? Do they try to take out Prez, VP, entire cabinet in line of succession?

Even if they do, then what? Will Congress just say, "Oh, okay, we'll take your orders"? How exactly does this junta exercise any control over Americans who will be torn between "Go fuck yourself," and "fuck around and find out"? The bureaucrats are just going to say, "Or what?"

So we're down to possibly a targeted assassination attempt. Against that are all the local LE, USSS, Trump's personal security detail, and lots of loyal people.

The end result for the uprising would be execution, extermination, or at best jail and complete loss of those cushy contracts.

They're at most going to whine and bitch, wave their colored flags, snivel, and take the Chinese payouts.

If the Russians failed repeatedly in coup attempts against Putin, et al, there is zero chance here.
