I have come to the realization I am indeed getting old and things must change. After many years of faithful service, I shall retire the FNP-9 from EDC duty because simply is now a hard chore to acquire the iron sights. I will add a light that I already have and see if I eventually add a laser to make this a House Gun. It has worked reliably, and I trust it to work when SHTF.
The PSA Dagger was a bought as a “why not” gun. Inexpensive, it has worked so far but still I am not convinced/sure of its value as EDC even with a red dot.
And then the new EDC was crowned: P365 X with Sig Zero dot. A 12+1 rounder that kept ringing steel like it was a Carl Palmer drum solo pretty much at any intelligent pistol distance. So now I must go through the ordeal of locating good holsters (IWB and a pancake), mag pouches and at least 3 more magazines.
Next on the therapy: Ruger Ruger 762SR with Sig scope.

First misconception killed outright: This is not a light rifle. Not FAL heavy, but nor AR pistol either. It will tax your effort, but it is shooting the 7.62x51, so it is not a light cartridge either. Oleg installed and zeroed the scope (I should have taken all the info, I apologize. I want to eventually write about it because it is amazing) and he was getting overlapping headshots at 100 yards benched at a steel target. I am not as assured of my own accuracy, so I aimed CoM and never missed a shot.
When I switched to unsupported standing at 50 yards is when I felt the weight of the beast. Still kept ringing the steel without a miss making it a pleasurable experience.
My untrained opinion: Do you need a marksman rifle capable of precise delivery rounds fast in an urban environment? Check.
And one last thing. I had not deployed the stock enough before my first shot, so the inevitable happened: Got kissed by the scope.
Not a big injury other than my pride.
All that, about a gallon of water and 3 changes of shirts made it for a nice therapeutical session.
I know this post is aged (not my fault - just followed you over from GFZ, didn’t know you were here)…Bought an Sig P365 Macro Comp, and I love it! Ordered a Concealment Express Druid (not high end, I know, but neither am I) configured for IWB and it just works. FWIW…
When I switched to a red dot on my EDC pistols, I found myself still using the same iron sight muscle memory I always did. So, all the red dot supplies are confirmation of the accuracy of my iron sight discipline, but I have also come to know that I have maintained the speed I always had---from low ready and or high ready positions to shots on center of 8" circles is still 1.12 seconds from low ready and 0.96 sec. from high ready. And I still use a laser and practice for those extreme possible occasions where 'line of sight on target' are impossible during CQC engagements--shot placement confirmation is the goal with both 'old age tools'.
